Indian Raliway Budget 2013-14 at a glance
Due to future LokSabha Elections next year the budget purely is an Election Budget and also it is an eye wash for common people. Railway Budget has its 12th five year plan and also many new frieght hikes and its a very big burden to common people. Increased fuel cost is the main key factor to raise the prices and also every year Railways facing an loss of 25000 crores approximately every year. Inspite of increased passengers traffic we dont know how the Railway facing loss, its a big question to think? However as its Election budget many category of people are somewhat safe without hike. But also the main key factors for this Railway budget are given as below.
No basic increase in passenger fares this year, freight rates for parcels increased 5.8% as increased and varying diesel price. Reservation, Cancellation , Tatkal charges has been increased, 500km new lines, 750km line doubling and 450km gauge conversion are in proposal plan announcement. Railway in a plan to enter and use wind and solar power. This announcement has been made this year and we dont know when to be implemented. Coal, Cement, Pigiron, Steel, Fertilizers, Food to be get costlier due to increase in freight rates. Due to variable fuel price hike the Railway charges also variable every 6months once according to diesel price which is PPP(Public Private Participation). Many new open job offers announced as per the suggestion from Mr.Rahul Gandhi first priority to be given to youths.
Key Points in Railway Budget 2013-14
1. Across the board hike in freight charges by an average of about 5.8%
2.Reservation fee for AC first and Executive classes raised upto Rs60 from Rs35 and that of first class and AC-2 doubled to Rs50
3.Reservation fee for AC chair car AC-3 economy and AC-3 tier increased to Rs40 from Rs25
4.Supplementary charges for Superfast trains raised between Rs5 ad Rs25
5.Tatkal charges for sleeper class raised by R15 to Rs25 and for AC chair car from Rs25 to Rs50
6.Tatkal chrges in AC-3tier increased by Rs50, AC-2 tier and Executive class by Rs100
7.Cancellation charges increased for all classed between Rs5 and Rs50
8.Internet Ticketing from 0030hrs to 2330hrs and e-ticketing through mobile phones
9.Introduction of 72 additional services in Mumbai and 18 in Kolkata
10.67 New Express trains proposed: 26 new passenger services, 8 DEMU and 5 MEMU services to be introsuced
11.Run of 57 trains to be extended and frequency of 24 trains to be increased
12.Aadhar to be used for various passenger and staff related services
13.Provision of free Wi-Fi facilities on several trains
